Are you ready for Halloween?
Halloween is just a couple of weeks away, and if you’re planning on dressing up, now is the time to nail down your costume. But, you’ll be glad to know that you don’t have to go out and drop your hard-earned cash on a bunch of pricey costume makeup that you’ll only use for one night and that very well might ruin your skin. Believe it or not, there are a lot of great Halloween looks you can create using the beauty products you’ll find with us at The Online Drugstore. You just have to know how! That’s why our experts have come up with this list of Halloween makeup hacks using drugstore beauty products:
Beard Stubble
Female to male transformations are always a hit on Halloween, but one of the most difficult parts of nailing the male look is the facial hair. Sure, you could go out and buy a fake mustache or beard, but once the adhesive wears off or the itching starts to kick in, you’ll wish you weren’t wearing it. However, there’s a quick and easy way to create beard stubble at home using products you’ll find at The Online Drugstore.
What you’ll need:
- Brow Gel - Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil and Gel (For best results, use two different colors to make your stubble look more realistic)
- Mascara Wand
To create the perfect five o’ clock shadow, simply apply the brow gel using the mascara wand in a stippling motion. A light hand is key if you want your stubble to look realistic.
3D Wound
Whether you’re planning to dress up as a zombie or a car crash victim, you’re going to need a wound to complete the look. There are lots of stick-on wounds at your local Halloween store, but the problem is that they are expensive and don’t look nearly as convincing as the wounds you can create on your own at home!
What you’ll need:
- Glue Stick - Elmer’s Glue Stick
- Powder - Covergirl "Smoothers"
- Foundation - WNW Photo Focus Liquid Foundation
- Makeup Brush - Eco Tool Makeup Brush
- Purple and Red Eye Shadow - Covergirl Eyeshadow
- Black Liquid Eyeliner - Almay Liquid Eyeliner
- Red Lipstick - WNW Silk Finish Lipstick - Hot Red
- Lip Gloss - MegaSlicks Lip Gloss-Red Sensation
Start by cutting a small amount of the glue off with a butter knife. With a little bit of water on your fingers, manipulate the glue into a putty-like consistency, and apply it to your skin where you would like to create the wound. Let it air-dry completely or use a blow dryer to speed up the process.
Cover the glue with the powder, and then apply the foundation over it using a fluffy makeup brush.
Using a mix of the red and purple eye shadows, create a bruise around the wound. Blush and lipstick also work well.
Fill in the wound using the black, liquid eyeliner, and then use the lipstick and lip gloss to make the wound look like it’s oozing blood.
Fake Blood
You can buy bottles of fake blood everywhere from the grocery store to the Halloween store, but it’s much cheaper and much more realistic to simply make it on your own. Here’s how!
What you’ll need:
- Black eyeliner - Almay Liquid Eyeliner
- Red Lipstick - WNW Silk Finish Lipstick - Hot Red
- Clear Lip Gloss - MegaSlicks Lip Gloss - Crystal Clear
- Angled Makeup Brush - Essentials Bamboo Make-Up Brush Set
To create the blood, simply shave a small amount of red lipstick off, and mix it with a liquid eyeliner, as well as a dollop of clear lip gloss. If you want a deeper red, for creating a dried-blood look, add in more eyeliner. On the other hand, if you want a brighter color, for creating fresh wounds, use more lipstick in the mix.
When applying your blood, you’ll have an easier time if you use the end of your makeup brush. This will also make your brush much easier to clean. If you’re hoping to achieve a Patrick-Bateman-esque look, dip your angled makeup brush in the blood, hold it close to your skin and run your fingers along the bristles to get a realistic blood splatter that would make even Dexter envious.
